In order to guarantee the quality of products, IK Elektronik uses
inspection equipment, which has been specially adapted to the needs of
high frequency technology. This not only safeguards the functions of
components and supplements manual or automatic visual checks, but also
helps provide parameter settings, programming and calibration for high
frequency components.
The general functional test is just one element. The following are
particular challenges:
- Measuring the transmission
output from antennas,
- Measuring the transmission
power of transmitters radiated and cable connected,
- Measuring harmonics and
emitted signals,
- Measuring receivers’
sensitivity, dynamic range and immunity against interference,
- Measuring and exactly
calibrating frequencies,
- Measuring impedance and
S-parameters.
Special measuring equipment and testing stations are required for this.
Regardless of the number of items being manufactured, the following are
used:
- Manual testing stations, similar to laboratories
- Simple, automated testing stations, usually single adapters
with connected measuring equipment and controls
- Automatic testing stations, usually with an automatic feed
system and automatic testing procedures.
IK Elektronik places its trust in in-house standards and uses PXI
measurement equipment combined with LabView softwsare, but redesigns
each testing station using the very specific requirements of the
individual products. Normally all the measuring results are documented
in a data base.
The routine testing stations are supplemented by random samples and
clearance measurements that accompany the production process and
monitor it; their scope normally exceeds that of routine tests.
